What is ZOOM Whitening? 

ZOOM is a bleaching process used to whiten and brighten your teeth, which can be dulled as a result of consuming high-pigmented foods or drink, smoking, or aging. This process is done in-office and uses the ZOOM Advanced Power Chairside Lamp, accelerating the bleaching process. 

This process takes about 90 minutes and is done in three 15-minute sessions. One of our dental assistants will protect your lips and gums prior to applying ZOOM hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, which works together with the ZOOM light to penetrate your teeth and break up stains and discoloration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, your only job is to relax and let the machine work its magic! 

Why ZOOM Whitening?

​ZOOM whitening is a great option if you are looking for same-day results. Whether you want to brighten your smile for an important event or “just because,” this method, on average, can whiten teeth by three shades!

ZOOM results will vary from person to person. Almost all natural teeth can benefit from ZOOM whitening, however, ZOOM is not intended to lighten artificial teeth, crowns, veneers, composite, or other restorative materials. People with darkly stained yellow or yellow-brown teeth frequently achieve better results than those with gray or bluish-gray teeth.

How to Prepare for ZOOM Whitening and What to Expect After Treatment

​For two weeks prior to whitening, patients are advised to use a desensitizing toothpaste and take ibuprofen the day of their appointment to help reduce the possibility of any discomfort. 

During the first 24 hours after whitening, patients may still experience some sensitivity or tooth pain. This is normal and is usually mild, but it may be more noticeable in people prone to tooth sensitivity. We will add desensitizing gel to your take-home tray that you will wear for 30 minutes after your treatment and you may continue taking ibuprofen for any further discomfort. 

Maintaining Your New Smile

Teeth naturally darken with time, however, so you will also have the option of in-home use trays to extend the benefits of the whitening process.
