Dr. Patel was born and raised in India, where he earned his dental degree and worked both as a lecturer and in private practice. He later moved to Canada, where he completed a rigorous and competitive dental program at the University of Western Ontario, graduating with high honors. Dr. Patel practiced in a busy family dental office in Ontario for nearly 3 years where he treated patients of all ages. Then he went on to Kansas to complete the NYU Langone Dental Medicine Postdoctoral Residency Program.
Dr. Patel's interest in pediatric dentistry was sparked through heartwarming experiences with young patients. One memorable moment was when he treated a child with dental trauma while he was on call at a hospital. The child hugged him afterward, leaving a lasting impression. Another instance was when a child--whose anxiety had been eased at a prior visit--ran down the hall to greet and hug him. Moments like these made Dr. Patel realize the profound impact he could have on children's lives, and fueled his passion for pediatric dentistry. He says working with children is fun and he finds it incredibly satisfying to help them change their dental habits and overcome their fears. Dr. Patel and his wife Foram have two children: a daughter Durva, who is 8 years old, and a son Divam, who is 5 1⁄2. In his free time, he likes to travel, play cricket and pickleball, and garden with his family. |
