Dr. Amy Augustine, known as Dr. Amy to her pediatric patients, is a board-certified pediatric dentist specializing in dental care for infants, toddlers, school-age children, and adolescents. In addition to years of pediatric-specific dental training, she has expertise in behavior guidance and a gift to communicate with children in an effective, gentle, and non-threatening manner.
Dr. Augustine loves working with children and finds it incredibly rewarding to watch kids change their demeanor from being scared to be at the dentist, to feeling happy and proud of themselves by the end of the appointment. She uses several methods of behavior guidance, including tell-show-do and positive reinforcement. Parents are often surprised at how well their children can do with the right approach. Dr. Augustine is the only board-certified pediatric dentist serving a six-county area, including Fulton, Henry, Defiance, Paulding, Putnam, and Williams Counties. Prior to joining Dental Excellence, Dr. Augustine practiced at a pediatric dental office in Bowling Green, Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Spanish from Case Western Reserve University and graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She completed her General and Pediatric Residencies at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Dr. Augustine went into dentistry out of a love for both healthcare and art. Her career gives her the opportunity to use her talents to help children get the care they need and a beautiful smile. Dr. Augustine lives in Maumee with her husband, Kenneth, and her three year-old daughter, Audrey. She enjoys art, biking, walking, movies, games, and playing outside with her family. Dr. Augustine is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and Toledo Dental Society. Dr. Augustine feels honored to make dentistry a fun and exciting journey for children and is committed to providing positive experiences during childhood that set children up for a lifetime of better oral health. |
